A dedicated local-first utility built to make copying and pasting between your personal PC and Android phone effortless, instantaneous, and strictly private.

Our Philosophy: Local-First by Design

Many modern tools attempt to solve cross-device synchronization by routing your most sensitive data—passwords, personal messages, two-factor codes, and private links—through remote cloud servers. This introduces unnecessary security risks, recurring subscription models, telemetry tracking, and latency dependencies.

PasteAnywhere takes the opposite approach. Your devices are already sitting right next to each other on your desk or connected to the same household Wi-Fi router. PasteAnywhere creates a direct, peer-to-peer communication bridge over your local network. Your clipboard text never leaves your private subnet. There are no user accounts, no login portals, no tracking pixels, and no remote cloud databases to be breached.

Engineering & Architecture

The PasteAnywhere solution is architected as a modular .NET 10 codebase engineered for minimal memory overhead and fast startup:

Windows Backend & Dashboard

Built using WPF for a modern dashboard UI and ASP.NET Core Kestrel listening as a local-only HTTP/WebSocket server on port 8765. Packaged as a self-contained single-file win-x64 executable with Inno Setup on .NET 10, requiring zero external runtime dependencies on end-user machines.

Android Mobile Client

Developed in .NET MAUI on .NET 10 targeting Android 8.0 or later (API 26+). Integrates native Android foreground service architecture for persistent WebSocket connectivity and custom window overlay services for the Quick Sync floating rocket button.

Zero-Config Discovery

Leverages mDNS (Multicast DNS) advertising under the service type _pasteanywhere._tcp.local.. Enables your phone to find your PC instantly without typing IP addresses, while retaining a manual IP and port connection fallback.

Cryptographic Safeguards

Pairing PIN validation utilizes constant-time comparison (CryptographicOperations.FixedTimeEquals) and rate-limiting. Paired authentication tokens are stored solely as SHA-256 hashes inside atomic configuration files with .bak corruption recovery.

Local Network Security Model

Honest Transparency: No TLS on Local Network

PasteAnywhere uses authenticated Bearer tokens to identify paired devices. However, because it is a lightweight local utility without an internal Certificate Authority (CA) management system, traffic is not encrypted in transit across the local Wi-Fi subnet.

For this reason, we recommend running PasteAnywhere only on trusted home or private office Wi-Fi networks protected by WPA2 or WPA3 encryption. Avoid using it on open or untrusted public Wi-Fi networks where other devices could inspect unencrypted local packets.

Product Scope & Non-Goals

To ensure long-term stability, security, and exceptional performance, PasteAnywhere has deliberately defined boundaries on what it does and does not do:
