Verify Release Integrity

Download SHA256SUMS.txt

Before running any executable or sideloading an APK, you can cryptographically verify that your downloaded file exactly matches the official binary built from the source repository.

On Windows (PowerShell)

Get-FileHash -Path .\PasteAnywhere-Setup.exe -Algorithm SHA256

The resulting hash output must match: 59DC8B2A76CEBC8C034F7C8D72FA288CB635DAE3CA3C9DC32A3E6775ECEEDE1B

On Linux, macOS, or Android Termux

sha256sum PasteAnywhere-1.0.0.apk

The resulting hash output must match: B38683A4546094A50553B534EBC93CE89AEC409DFA9FD99E3634AC12D60DC313

Why Am I Seeing a Warning During Installation?

As an independent, open software release that does not rely on corporate cloud app stores, modern operating systems may display standard warnings. Here is what they mean:

Windows SmartScreen ("Windows protected your PC")

Microsoft Defender SmartScreen flags newly released executables that have not yet built up download reputation through an expensive commercial EV code-signing certificate.

How to proceed: Click "More info" and then click "Run anyway". You can verify the executable SHA-256 hash against the published hash above.

Android ("Install unknown apps")

Android displays a security warning whenever you install an application directly from outside the Google Play Store (sideloading).

How to proceed: Tap "Settings" in the prompt and toggle "Allow from this source" for your browser or file manager. The APK is signed with our official release certificate.
